8 weeks of 3-hour open studio painting sessions at Centennial Art Center. A class created for intermediate and advanced students who are already experienced with basic concepts of painting, where they can further explore and improve their skills. Students will focus on self-guided projects with regular one-on-one feedback sessions with instructor. This class will help experienced painting students deepen and broaden their comprehensive knowledge.

Acrylic Painting Foundations

8 weeks of structured lessons that will give both beginner and intermediate students a broader understanding of materials, methods, and techniques. After teaching for over 40 years, Shawn knows how to keep you focused only on what’s “important”, rather than become overwhelmed by a topic that will keep you learning for a lifetime! Comprehensive, sequential lessons include compositional design, color mixing, color theory, and style.

Color Mixing, Theory, and Special Effects; Oil or Acrylic

8 week course that begins with students creating their own color charts from their own paints to then use as the perfect “at a glance” guide for every painting. Of all tools used and taught by your instructor, Shawn claims this by far to be the most useful (by students who will JUST DO IT and USE IT. A lot to learn from this class regarding atmospheric painting, such as how time of day and weather conditions affect color, in addition to theory that explains how to deal with landscape visual space effectively - foreground, middle, and background, as well as 3-dimensional form in still life objects.
