My formal education in art, in addition to over 40 years’ experience creating art programs and lessons made me a lifelong participant in creative outreach within the community. My mission, so to speak, has always been working with people of all ages and experience levels, where I customize each project, workshop, or class to fit the group.
Prior to my recent retirement in 2020, my “real job” (that income we may rely on) always utilized and grew artistic skills, along with teaching me much about what people need, and how I may be of service. These jobs included graphic art, advertising/marketing/illustration and then led into entrepreneurial ventures. Volunteering as a lead for creative writing and art classes at retirement communities and centers led into a full-time job as an Activities Programmer for Seniors. A job with Tractor Supply corporation as a graphic artist & illustrator led into building & managing online e-commerce portals, followed by doing contract work photographing & illustrating products. My passion for teaching in the community through art centers and community colleges inspired completion of a BA in Art Education to then teach K-12, focusing on the needs of children. All the while, I’ve remained a lifelong learner and have practiced my craft as time allowed. Interests in mixed media and a wide variety of methods have kept me experimenting, however, portrait painting did emerge as a frontrunner due to robust patronage!
Every day is a new day, and a potentially new chapter! Thankfully, my work choices need only feel purposeful and of true value.
I’m excited to use all life experience and knowledge gained thus far to keep growing and paying it forward.
